Specialist in sports law, Marcelo Bee Sellares, acknowledged that if the debt to the Brazilian club is not canceled, Peru would not play the FIFA date against Germany and Morocco.

Christian Cueva is living days of anguish after learning about the millionaire debt he has with Santos FC and was unable to solve it after his last trip to Brazil. This situation could even hinder a possible call-up to the Peruvian national team for the friendly matches against Germany and Morocco in March.

The specialist in sports law, Argentine Marcelo Bee Sellares, pointed out that the situation of the popular 'Aladino' will become more complicated as the days go by and he has less chance to pay off the debt to the Brazilian team, which could result in a sports suspension for the player.

"In case Christian Cueva and Pachuca do not pay within 45 days, they run the risk of facing sports sanctions, and he could miss the FIFA match in March," said the lawyer to RPP.

The lawyer also stated that the midfielder currently has no problems being hired or playing for a club in the next 40 days. "Today, Christian Cueva does not have any disqualification to play because he only has an economic sanction, not a sports one. He could sign with any club tomorrow," clarified the lawyer.

However, this situation would change if the deadline arrives and Santos has not received the payment of the almost 5 million dollars. "In case Pachuca and Cueva do not pay off their debt within the deadline, a non-compliance file will be opened and sports sanctions will be applied. The player would be disqualified for official matches for 4 to 6 months," he warned.

For Santos FC, the way in which both parties reach an agreement is of little importance, which is why in Brazil they only heard the player's request as a commitment. "The ruling does not say how much Pachuca and Christian Cueva have to pay, but together they have to pay those 4.8 million dollars. The percentage should be 50% and 50%. Unless there is an indemnity agreement when signing with Pachuca, defining the percentage of responsibility in a conflict with FIFA or TAS," he pointed out.
