Kendry Páez, the gem of Ecuadorian soccer, will not travel with the Ecuador U17 National Team to the World Cup in Indonesia, which starts on November 10. Coaches Félix Sánchez Bas and Diego Martínez have decided that he is already a player for the senior national team.
"They will always have my support, it's a spectacular group they have," said Kendry Páez in a video released by the Ecuadorian Football Federation with his message to his former U17 teammates.
"It's a group that will achieve a lot over there," added the young football player who will stay in the country, despite U17 being his natural selection due to his recently turned 16 years old.
Kendry Páez is a starter in the senior national team, which is competing in the South American Qualifiers. Ecuador will play on dates 5 and 6: against Venezuela in Maturín on November 16 and will host Chile in Quito on Tuesday the 17th.
Those dates almost coincide with the U17 World Cup, where Ecuador will debut on Friday, November 10 against Indonesia. On Monday the 13th, they will face Morocco; and on November 16 they will play against Panama.
