GolTV to broadcast Guayaquil City vs. Independiente del Valle match

The GolTV company announced that it will broadcast the match between Guayaquil City and Independiente del Valle on Monday, August 22, 2022, for the sixth round of LigaPro. This comes after three matches on Sunday 21 were suspended due to the assault suffered by referee Álex Cajas in Ambato.

The referee was punched during the match between Macará and Aucas on Saturday night, August 20, by Héctor Lautaro Chiriboga. The assistant referee of the blue team was unhappy with the decision regarding a penalty for the eastern team, which led to his reaction and consequently the decision of the referee union to suspend their activities.

Therefore, the match between City and Independiente was also in doubt. However, GolTV announced the broadcast of the match, confirming what had only been rumored during the morning of Monday, that the referees would have lifted their protest. However, no officials have spoken about it yet.

The Sangolquileños are fighting for the top positions, aiming to win the second stage and play the LigaPro final against Barcelona.
