The central defender of the Peruvian National Team, Alexander Callens, spoke out after the tough 2-0 defeat against Argentina, a result valid for the fourth match of the South American Qualifiers.
Regarding this, the AEK Athens football player explained in detail the reasons for his absence in the matches against the Chilean National Team and the "albiceleste" in this new double round of the qualifiers.
"I arrived with a discomfort that prevented me from playing in the first match, then I had some trainings, but in the end, you have to play the one who is 100% fit," said Callens.
CRITICISM OF REYNOSO
Furthermore, Callens supported the coach of the "Blanquirroja", Juan Máximo Reynoso, against the criticism he has been receiving for the team's poor start in the qualifiers. Let's remember that the "bicolor" is second to last in the standings with only 1 point and without having shot on target in 4 matches.
"That shouldn't happen because it's us who are playing. The coach here just tries to field the best players and that's it. We don't need to make a big deal out of it because it's us, the players, who are playing. The whole team supports the coach unconditionally, he's a great person both on and off the field. We must respect his career," he stated.
