For Andrés Vilches, the ascent has been steady. A good season at Huachipato propelled the forward to Colo Colo. However, he is not confident with his new step and is aware that he will have to fight for a place, especially with Humberto Suazo and Esteban Paredes ahead of him.
"I'm very happy to have players like them, I come with a lot of humility, to learn a lot from them and earn my place in a healthy way," he said at his presentation on Tuesday. "I know I will be sharing with players who have a lot of experience and have played for important teams, and that way I can gain more experience myself."
He has no doubts about what it means to join the Macul team. "It is a big step in my career, I am very happy. It is a great team with a great fanbase. I hope to make a name for myself here and win a title. I am arriving at the best moment of my career," he warns.
Martín Rodríguez is following the same path from Huachipato to Colo Colo. He could have arrived earlier but a series of mistakes caused the transfer to fall apart earlier this year. Now he prefers to downplay it. "I don't see it as a revenge, but as an achievement," he says.
"I am happy, I want to achieve everything with Colo Colo, do my best and respond to the Colocolino people," he promised on his first day at the club. "I can play as an attacking midfielder, right and left winger. I must be at the disposal of the coaching staff and see what they want from me," adds the player born in Diego de Almagro.
