Matt Hardy had to step away from the wrestling ring for a while, and his girlfriend Lita betrayed him and started dating Edge. As expected, Hardy took this very badly, to the point that he was fired from WWE.

Vince McMahon brought the extreme wrestler back, who would go on to have one of the most violent feuds of all time with Edge and Lita.
