In NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, Adam Cole made his debut by attacking Drew McIntyre, after McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode to win the yellow brand championship. From then on, he became one of the standout wrestlers in NXT, and even received a huge ovation when he appeared in the last Royal Rumble.
Does Adam Cole's arrival in WWE affect ROH?
Recently, Cole spoke with Benjamin Raven from MLive.com to promote the live NXT event on Saturday near Detroit, where he touched on topics such as his debut in NXT, the support from Kevin Owens, and other issues that we will detail below.
About his first year with WWE:
"I always remember the first night in Brooklyn, where I debuted, and it was a total surprise. I just remember thinking, 'I hope they care, I hope they remember me.' The way they welcomed me that night, I knew it was the beginning of something special."
About the support he received from Kevin Owens:
"Kevin has always gone above and beyond to support me on my journey. Having him there to support me was incredible. I'm talking about another friendship that will never disappear."
About believing in NXT and not going to RAW or SmackDown first:
"NXT is something I really believe in and still believe in. It is made up of passionate young people who want to make a name for themselves. I wanted to be part of WWE, and be part of NXT first, as if it were already Raw or SmackDown."
"I always wondered what NXT was like. The coaches, the team, and the hands-on focus are really cool and I'll be able to look back and see how happy I was to be part of this."
