In recent statements, Santiago Ponzinibbio challenged Donald Cerrone to a fight at UFC Chile, an event that was not yet announced, although it was an open secret that it would be held soon. Now, the mixed martial arts company has made the following statement:

UFC has confirmed the date for its long-awaited inaugural event, which will be live in Chile. On May 19, the world's most famous octagon arrives at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, for a night full of stars and local athletes. This event will be broadcast on FOX Sports Premium and is the first UFC event in South America, outside of Brazil.

To mark UFC's arrival in Santiago, the "Tour of the Letters" begins this Wednesday, February 28, around the Chilean capital. Over the next two months, giant UFC letters will be displayed in tourist places throughout the city, to promote the event and provide fans with excellent opportunities to take pictures. Fans can also expect a complete schedule that will feature appearances by guest fighters during the fight week, which will be in May.

For now, five fights have been announced that will be part of this new event.

Chilean Diego Rivas (7-1) will face Argentine Guido Cannetti (7-3).
Chilean Vicente Luque (12-6-1) will face Canadian Chad Laprise (14-2).
Mexican Alexa Grasso (10-1) will collide with American Tatiana Suárez (6-0).
Venezuelan Verónica Macedo (5-1-1) will face American Andrea Lee (8-2).
Brazilian Poliana Botelho (5-1) and Japanese Syuri Kondo (6-0).
