The innovative Mixed Match Challenge is just around the corner
and with it, WWE will have the opportunity to experiment with various formats: the mixed tournament, the exclusive Facebook broadcast, and the competition for a monetary prize. This last one will not go to the Superstars' pockets, but to a charity of their choice, and today more details have been revealed regarding this.
The brackets were revealed yesterday, with Finn Bálor & Sasha Banks vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Natalya opening the competition in a match that will see the two former NJPW idols in an unusual encounter, although they had previously faced each other in NXT and Survivor Series 2017.
Confirmed brackets for the WWE Mixed Match Challenge
But also, it is now known that each team will have an assigned foundation and, if they win the tournament, it will receive a prize of $100,000. This seems unfair, considering the predetermined nature of the competition, that's why it has been announced that the charities that do not win will receive a donation of $10,000.
These are the charitable foundations that could win the WWE Mixed Match Challenge prize and the teams that will represent them:
- Americares - Bayley & Elias
- Boys & Girls Clubs of America - Jimmy Uso & Naomi
- Connor’s Cure - Alexa Bliss & Braun Strowman
- Girl Up - Bobby Roode & Charlotte Flair
- Global Citizen - Lana & Rusev
- Hire Heroes USA - Alicia Fox & Goldust
- KaBOOM! - Big E & Carmella
- Make-A-Wish - Natalya & Shinsuke Nakamura
- Rescue Dogs Rock - Asuka & The Miz
- UNICEF - Becky Lynch & Sami Zayn
- Special Olympics - Finn Bálor & Sasha Banks
- Susan G. Komen - Apollo Crews & Nia Jax
The destiny of this generous donation has not been particularly discussed when talking about the Mixed Match Challenge, however, several analysts have agreed that the team representing Connor's Cure will have the highest chances of winning the tournament, as WWE's joint history with this foundation is well known and the benefits this would bring to their public image are evident. The comments had been generated before this list was published and now it is clear that Little Miss Bliss and the Monster Among Men enter as favorites.
Everything will be speculation until we see the tournament, and any foundation that wins the WWE Mixed Match Challenge prize will be well deserved. For now, what is your favorite pair to win?
