There won't be a women's Royal Rumble (for now)
As WrestleMania 35 is still almost two years away, many of us can't wait for Bayley's words to become a reality. That's why it was great news to learn that WWE planned to put together a women's Royal Rumble for the next edition of the homonymous PPV, and with the recent promotions from NXT of five female wrestlers, the lineup can already be considered almost complete. However, Dave Meltzer made sure to bring us back to reality, and at least for now, it seems that a huge step for this division will have to wait.
No habrá un Royal Rumble femenil (por ahora)
There is another type of match that, although not as historic, generates almost the same expectation among fans, and that is the Elimination Chamber. 15 years after its debut as the main event of Survivor Series (2002), it is already considered a classic of the programming, and until now, due to its extreme condition, it has always been reserved for men; according to the somewhat outdated parameters of WWE.
Well, while this year we won't have a women's Royal Rumble, we could have an Elimination Chamber match instead. Ryan Satin and James McKenna from Pro Wrestling Sheet stated in their podcast that WWE is considering bringing the concept to the company's female competitors. In this case, from Raw, as we remember that this brand will have the exclusivity of the next edition, having been owned by SmackDown this year.
Undoubtedly, in terms of relevance of names, currently, the red show is the most suitable place for the next achievement of the Women's Revolution. Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax, and Paige could be six weighty talents for a potential match inside the huge steel structure, who would go hand in hand with the notoriety of said stipulation. Gladiators, who in the case of Asuka, Bliss, or Banks, already know what it means to be pioneers in terms of unprecedented stipulations for their division.
In short, 2018 could mean that we would again see two matches in the Elimination Chamber on the card, as it was happening before the complete unification of brands. Now, a women's version would surely steal the show, paving the way for more regularity in extreme matches and for the definitive accomplishment of a Royal Rumble.
WWE Elimination Chamber (2018) will take place on February 25th from Las Vegas, Nevada, and it will be Raw's first PPV of the year. For now, the venue that will host a possible first women's Elimination Chamber has not been finalized.
