The boxer from Laguna, Yazmín "Rusita" Rivas, defeated and took away the unbeaten record of Yareli "Chololita" Larios from Guadalajara, by split decision, to win the international super bantamweight championship of the WBC, in the fight held at the Centenario Stadium in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
It was a duel between youth and experience, but she knew how to control the fight, the rhythm, and showed her fangs to now seek the world championship again in 2018.
The judges' scorecards were: 97-93, 96-94 for Rivas and 97-93 for Larios. "Chololita" loses her unbeaten record and "Rusita" adds another title to her collection.
"Next year, God willing, we will go for the world super bantamweight championship," she said.
"I am very happy and grateful, mainly thanking God, my family, my company, and my work team, which is my brother "Ruso" Rivas and Carlos Muñoz."
She confirmed that the intention is to go for the WBC world championship in 2018 and return to the elite of boxing.
"Every sacrifice has its reward, and this championship that I just won is my reward. I want to thank the public for their love and support, who are always following my career. This championship goes to all of you and to my Gómez Palacio, to all of La Comarca Lagunera," she concluded.
