Lapadula entered the game in the second half, specifically in the 76th minute, after suffering a tough ankle injury that kept the popular "Bambino" out of the fields for more than three months.

After a 1-1 draw between Cagliari and Udinese in the regular 90 minutes, Lapadula was the hero in extra time, scoring an impressive goal with a left-footed shot in the 119th minute, giving the victory to his team and qualifying for the round of 16 in the Cup.
