At the end of his days in the former TNA, Bobby Roode felt miserable to the point that he was starting to hate the job that he had effectively performed for over three decades. However, opening his eyes and reconsidering served as inspiration for a new beginning under the WWE wing.
Roode, former Impact Wrestling star and NXT champion, was recently a guest on Edge and Christian's podcast, E & C Pod Of Awesomeness. This is a highlighted part of what he said:
The end of his tenure with Impact Wrestling:
"I wanted to have great matches, but I felt uninspired and not at a hundred percent. I got into the business because I didn't want to be at home all the time. I wanted to be traveling, to have representatives, and to be at all live events."
"And with TNA, I wasn't traveling and the matches were very spaced apart. I felt like I was at my breaking point. And I really started to dislike my job. I got to the point where I truly hated professional wrestling."
How his agreement with WWE came together:
"I just knew that staying in TNA wasn't really an option for me, so even though I had a year left on my contract, we decided to part ways amicably. I became very good friends with Samoa Joe during my years in TNA. Joe was already in NXT and we talked a lot. And, of course, Austin Aries was starting with NXT at the time I was finishing with TNA, so I spoke with them."
"And when I was finishing with TNA, we came to an agreement that it would end in March, finish the five or six remaining weeks of television and then I would be free. So the day I finished, I got a phone call from Matt Bloom, and then, the ball started rolling from there."
