Alert is triggered: Io Shirai injured, is her future with WWE at risk?
A few moments ago, in a press conference at the Stardom headquarters in Tokyo, it was announced that Japanese wrestler and Stardom superstar, Io Shirai, is injured, so she will take a break from wrestling activities indefinitely.
In the talk with the specialized media, the beautiful fighter was accompanied by the president of Stardom, Rossy Owaga. According to the medical report, Io Shirai has a neck injury, although the nature of the injury was not clear. According to the wrestler herself, the injury occurred on May 14 in the championship match she had against New Zealander Toni Storm, when the blonde applied a neckbreaker. From that date, Io was facing her commitments with a lot of pain, a situation that worried her because she couldn't defend her championships with dignity.
After the show the day before yesterday, where she lost the last belt she had to Mayu Iwatani, she will have the necessary time to take the measures indicated by the doctors to recover. Throughout July, a series of studies will be conducted to assess the severity of the injury, as it may even require surgery.
For this reason, Io will not participate in the 5STAR Grand Prix tournament, the last one in which she would compete before her imminent departure to WWE. Io Shirai looked worried, as she still doesn't know how long she will be out of action and if this will somehow influence her future plans with the biggest wrestling entertainment company worldwide.
In SUPER LUCHAS, we will be attentive to all the information that is generated in this regard, as well as to the progress of Io Shirai's health, whom we wish a speedy recovery.
