Japan contemplates the possibility of not holding the Tokyo Olympic Games [PHOTOS].

In Japan, the number two of the main party in the government has stated that there is a possibility to cancel the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as a last resort, due to the increase in COVID-19 infections.

"We should cancel the Olympic Games without hesitation, if infections spread as a result of the Olympic Games, I don't know what they are for," Toshihiro Nikai said in an interview with TBS.

For her part, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike said that was an extreme option and about the holding of the Olympic Games she said: "I take it as a strong message of encouragement to contain the coronavirus by any means necessary."

It should be noted that regarding this possibility, the Japanese minister in charge of the vaccination campaign raised the possibility of holding the Olympic Games without an audience.
