Peru achieved two gold medals and four bronze medals in the Pan American Weightlifting Championships Bogota 2022, confirming the good progress of our weightlifters with the aim of competing in the Olympic cycle towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Hernan Viera in the 109kg Division won the gold medals in clean and jerk and total at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships Bogota 2022. David Bardalez won three medals in the Pan American Weightlifting Championships. The national athlete won three bronze medals in the 67kg Division in snatch, clean and jerk, and total. Amel Atencia in the 96kg Division won the bronze medal in snatch.

Furthermore, Marcos Rojas achieved the 12th place in snatch, 8th place in clean and jerk, and 11th place in total in the 61kg Division; Anali Saldarriaga ranked 11th in snatch, 10th in clean and jerk, and 10th in total in the 49kg Division; and Shoely Mego placed 9th in snatch, 5th in clean and jerk, and 7th in total in the 55kg Division.

Kimberly Garcia won the gold medal in the 20km race walk with a time of 1 hour, 26 minutes, and 28 seconds . A week later, the athlete, born in Huancayo, won the gold medal again in the 35km race walk, with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 16 seconds.

Additionally, Peruvian students Henry Vasquez Vargas and Azumi Bravo Mallco won gold medals in the World School Chess Championship, defeating nearly 600 chess players from 36 countries, including powerhouses such as India, Mongolia, United States, China, Cuba, Canada, and Kazakhstan.
