The name of Oliver Sonne has been one of the most talked about after the 22-year-old footballer born in Denmark obtained the Peruvian ID that makes him eligible for Juan Reynoso. On the other hand, Claudio Pizarro, former captain of the white and red team and legend of Bayern Munich, agreed with the possibility that the right back of Silkeborg IF be called up by the 'Cabezón' for the qualifiers. In a conversation with Depor, the 'Bombardero de los Andes' indicated the reasons why he considers the young player to be a good option.
One more call-up
In recent days, Oliver Sonne has completed all the bureaucratic procedures to obtain the Peruvian ID and has already become a player eligible by Juan Reynoso. Although the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) still awaits FIFA's final approval to leave no loose ends, the Danish-Peruvian footballer already has everything in order to be one of the big surprises in the list of players called up for the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2026 North American World Cup.
Regarding this, Claudio Pizarro, former captain of the white and red team and with a wide trajectory in great European clubs, was asked about the emergence of the young right back and showed support for a possible call-up: "I have heard and read in the press about him and that he has the possibility of playing now in Peru. I haven't followed him much, I think I'll have to watch him a little more, but I think any addition or player who can contribute to the team will be important," he said at a press conference organized by the Bundesliga.
Likewise, the former Bayern Munich player added: "I've always said it. If we have players who can participate, compete and contribute, they are always important. Now we'll see how he does, obviously we have to wish him the best and that he also has the best wishes with the national team because that's what all fans want.".
Will he be on the list?
As it is remembered, Juan Reynoso will announce the list of players called up this Monday, October 2nd starting at noon at the Videna. However, it is expected that, just as he has done on previous occasions, that day he will only reveal the names of the players from the Liga 1 chosen for a microcycle at La Videna and then, days later, the official list including the foreign-based players can be announced. Among them, Oliver Sonne is one of the names that generates more expectation.
The Peruvian national team will face Chile on Thursday, October 12th in Santiago de Chile and then host Argentina on the 17th of the same month at the Estadio Nacional in Lima for the third round of the qualifiers for the 2026 North American World Cup. As it is known, after the first double round, the bicolor only added one point in the standings.
