Alex Valera is a new player for Al-Fateh in Saudi Arabia. On Monday, the Arab club announced the signing of the 26-year-old striker, and hours later Universitario de Deportes confirmed the transfer, which is considered the most important in the history of the team.
Manuel Barreto, the club's sports manager, indicated that Universitario will receive 100% of the transfer money because Valera gave up his percentage.
Although Barreto did not disclose the transfer fee, RPP Noticias has learned that Universitario will receive $1.3 million for the sale of Valera. Furthermore, they could receive up to an additional million in variables if the player meets certain objectives.
The objectives that are being talked about are the number of goals Valera scores for the club, where Peruvian midfielder Christian Cueva also plays.
Universitario on Valera's departure
"Alex Valera had a contract, but despite being at Universitario, we didn't count on him. We could have continued with a dispute based on a contract, but it wouldn't have solved the problem," said Barreto about Universitario's final decision regarding Valera's transfer. Valera did not play in the last three matches of the Liga 1 Betsson in order to force his move to the Middle East.
