Ricardo Gareca said goodbye to the Peruvian national team in a heartfelt press conference in which he subtly took jabs at Agustín Lozano, president of the FPF. Criticisms have begun to rain down on the Federation boss, and one of them came from Germán Leguía, former player of the national team.

In an interview with GOLPerú, Leguía considered that Lozano never had the intention of seeking the renewal of Ricardo Gareca from the beginning, which is why he sent a different delegation to negotiate with him in Argentina. In addition, he indicated that the president of the FPF also did not view 'El Tigre' in a favorable light because "he couldn't handle him". His diplomatic dealings were more than evident with Gareca's thanks to various directors, except Lozano.
“You send people who don't have the power to decide and have to go back to Lozano to ask him. Why didn't they go directly to talk to the lawyer? Because Ricardo Gareca didn't want it. It is clear that he did not want to hire Ricardo Gareca”, he initially said.
“They had spoken to his family to come to Lima, they were sure. I keep saying it. He doesn't want Ricardo Gareca because he can't handle him. That's his way of managing the Federation”, added the popular "Cocoliche".

He questioned the non-approval of statutes in Lozano's management
Finally, Leguía emphasized that the statutes of the FPF had not yet been approved under Agustín Lozano's management, which spoke poorly of their negotiations with Ricardo Gareca.
“Their statutes are not approved, not even in public records. How are they managing the Federation, is that how it is in Peru? Can anyone do whatever they want? That's the message we are sending. The lawyer didn't know about this”, he concluded.
