The Peruvian national team
The Peruvian national team is going through one of its worst moments after the defeat against Australia in the intercontinental playoff. Ricardo Gareca's team had a great chance to play their second consecutive World Cup, but they missed the opportunity after failing to score two goals from the penalty spot.
Alex Valera was one of the players who missed his shot. The Universitario forward did not score his last penalty, consequently giving the victory to the oceanic team, which qualified for its fifth consecutive World Cup. Minutes after the end of the match, América TV interviewed his mother, Verónica Sandoval, who sent him a lot of strength and unconditional support.
"Football is like that, it gives us and it takes away from us. Just be calm, the family will always continue to support you," she commented.

You still have a future ahead, you have more to give and we cannot be feeling sorry, we must continue. Now that the national team is coming, we have to welcome them properly," she concluded.
