The Costa Rican National Team Hires Gustavo Alfaro as Head Coach for the 2026 Eliminations

The Costa Rican national team put an end to the mystery and made official the hiring of Gustavo Alfaro, who will be in charge of guiding the team for the upcoming 2026 Eliminations.

This was made known through a post on their social media platforms, in which they welcomed the coach and detailed how the negotiations with the former Ecuador coach went in recent weeks.

"After a rigorous search process, the Costa Rican Football Federation chose Gustavo Alfaro, an Argentine coach with a wide prestige in the world of football, as the new head coach of the Costa Rican national team. The negotiations between both parties concluded successfully this Thursday with the signing of the contract between Alfaro and Osael Maroto, president of the Executive Committee of the FCRF," they stated.

Not only that, but the president of the FCRF, Osael Maroto, explained that Alfaro's arrival has been a great leap in quality that will bring a lot of excitement to this new qualifying process.

"The arrival of a coach with the professional and human qualities of Mr. Gustavo excites us a lot in the midst of the changes we are going through. We envision that his knowledge, preparation, and football philosophy will fit perfectly with the players and the Costa Rican fans. We are very happy with his arrival," he explained.
