Some hours ago rumors about an injury suffered by Finn Bálor during an NXT live event on February 5 were reported. Now WWE.com has officially confirmed the news.
The official website of WWE stated:
NXT champion Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury on Saturday during an NXT live event in Nashville, Tenn. According to WWE doctor Dr. Chris Amann, "Finn Bálor suffered an ankle injury and will be unable to compete tonight."
The NXT champion will be re-evaluated on Monday, said Amann.
As mentioned in the statement, the severity of the injury or the time it could take for the Irishman to recover from it is currently unknown.
Although it could be a minor injury and not have much impact on the wrestler's schedule, as has happened with others like Bray Wyatt or Rusev, it is also possible that Finn Bálor's absence could have consequences for NXT TakeOver: Dallas, the big live event prepared by NXT for WrestleMania weekend.
It is well known that WWE is currently facing considerable difficulty due to the large number of superstars who are out of action due to injury, from top stars like John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Randy Orton to NXT's Hideo Itami.
However, the champion showed his best attitude on social media:
