Liu Xiang
Liu Xiang was the first Chinese athlete to become an Olympic and world champion in track and field. His moment of greatest glory came in Athens 2004, when he won the gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 12.91 seconds.
In 2006, he set a world record of 12.88 seconds, although it would later be surpassed, but not in an Olympic Games. In Beijing 2008, he withdrew due to a false start caused by an Achilles tendon injury. In London 2012, he was unable to clear the first hurdle and injured himself again.
Knowing that he could no longer compete, he jumped to the last hurdle and kissed it, creating an emotional image in the history of the Olympic Games.
