The Cleveland Browns broke free agency last month with the signings of Tyrod Taylor, Damarious Randall, and three-time Pro Bowl player Jarvis Landry. On this occasion, the Browns' management has made another power move and, along with Landry, put one of the biggest contracts in the NFL on the table for a wide receiver.
The lucrative deal is worth $75.5 million over five years. Of that amount, $47 million is guaranteed, making it the third-highest contract for a wide receiver in the league, behind DeAndre Hopkins and Mike Evans. Prior to this news, it was planned for Landry to play under the franchise tag, which would have earned him nearly $16 million in the upcoming season.
The former Miami Dolphins player will look to capitalize on the arrival of quarterback Tyrod Taylor, as well as strengthen an offense that only managed seven touchdowns in 2017, while Landry recorded nine touchdowns on his own. Also, last season, Landry was the second player with the most receptions, having registered 112, just seven behind Michael Thomas (119).
With this contract, John Dorsey, the franchise's general manager, secures a 25-year-old looking to give a new face to the Browns, who have only one victory in the past two seasons.
