Reinaldo Rueda wanted to impose his football style from the beginning in the Chilean National Team. He knew that he was arriving to a group with many experienced players and several worldwide stars. Despite this, the Colombian coach managed to earn the respect of the locker room, thanks to his football knowledge and various innovations that have surprised the team.
One of them was theoretical tactical classes, something that the players attended every afternoon in Stockholm. That, plus new field works and even innovative forms of motivation and psychology, are part of the seal of the former coach of Flamengo and Atlético Nacional.
"It has been a pleasant surprise. One always thinks that they know everything in football, but he surprised us with many new things, other methodologies that we didn't know. He even works on psychological aspects. It's good to refresh ourselves in those areas," said Jean Beausejour, one of the most experienced players in the team.
Arturo Vidal also praised this first week of training on the field with the new coach. "He studied in Germany, he knows how to work and we have done it really hard. It has been a very good week for everyone. We have a great coach, who knows a lot about football," he valued.
After the victory against Sweden, the players will have more days of work with the new coaching staff. The next challenge will be Denmark on Tuesday in the closing of the first tour under the command of the Colombian coach.
