In his debut at Bellator MMA, Gegard Mousasi managed to defeat Alexander Shlemenko. Some believe that the judges should have given the victory to the Russian fighter, like Rory MacDonald.

shlemenko won that fight clearly, shame he didnt get it officially on the decision

This comment did not sit well with the Dutch fighter, who responded, also talking about a possible fight with his teammate.

"He's a strange guy. Better let him talk. Let him win his fights. He has his own bad performances so he shouldn't talk about me. I'll see his next fight. They'll tell me who my next opponent is, I'm not in a hurry."

Although they don't compete in the same division, both have stated that they are willing to fight in different weight classes.

As for their futures, the Canadian fighter will fight for the welterweight title next January against champion Douglas Lima.

"I think I'm going to prove that I'm on top of these guys. I wouldn't say all of them, but I think most fans think I'm going to crush him. I think it's going to be a much more competitive fight than the one I had with Paul Daley. But his skill will only delay what's going to happen. I'm sure I'm going to finish him. I definitely think Douglas Lima is better than the rest of the fighters. But he doesn't like to step out of his comfort zone. I don't think he likes to take risks. I know that feeling, so I know how to expose him. I think I'm going to defeat him in the first three rounds."

As for the Dutch fighter, as he himself says, his future is unclear. But before his first fight in the company, he talked about his future.

"I have many options. First, I have to defeat Alexander Shlemenko. Then I will fight for the title. And then maybe with Rory MacDonald. And then maybe I'll move up to light heavyweight. In this division, there is King Mo Lawal, Ryan Bader, Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, Rampage Jackson, all big names. I feel like retirement is still far away for me. But after six fights, I'll be 34 or 35 years old, and that's a good age to retire. But I'm not thinking too much about that. I also think it depends on whether I keep winning."
