Jefferson Farfán was the center of attention for a possible injury that would keep him away from the final stages of the Russia 2018 Qualifiers. Everything indicated that what happened with Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League seemed serious, but the coaching staff of the Peruvian National Team will wait for him until the end.
First it was revealed that Ray Sandoval was going to take the place of Jefferson Farfán, but finally the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) confirmed that Alexi Gómez was called in as an emergency due to the possible detachment of the 'Foquita'. But everything remains in suspense to see the results of the Lokomotiv Moscow forward's exams.
Jefferson Farfán was destined to be the replacement for Christian Cueva, suspended for card accumulation, against Argentina. With the 'Foquita', Ricardo Gareca would continue with the same scheme in the Peruvian National Team to play on an equal footing against Lionel Messi and company's team.
