Capital Sports Driver responds to the mayor's proposal to suspend the Pan American Games to allocate its resources to recovering areas affected by floods.
The mayor of San Isidro, Manuel Velarde, proposed this morning to cancel the development of the upcoming Pan American Games scheduled for 2019 in the capital and that these resources be channeled to the recovery of all areas of the country affected by recent natural disasters. This afternoon, the host of Capital Sports, Diego Rebagliati, responded strongly to the mayor.
Why don't they suspend the mayors' salaries and take from that fund instead of always interfering with sports whenever there are problems. I agree that all problems in all cities due to rain must be addressed and additional budgets must be obtained. If there is something in the Ministry of Economy, it is money. There is an easiness to say 'sports should pay the price'... They haven't done any facilities for Peruvian sports in 60 years," said Rebagliati.
As is known, San Isidro is scheduled as the gymnastics venue for this international competition and the construction of a Sports Center is planned, which infrastructure, once the Pan American Games are finished, will remain as a legacy for the district and its residents.
