Garrafal Error by Homar Rojas Leads to Charros' Painful Defeat

A monumental error by Homar Rojas, manager of Charros de Jalisco, set the course for the Tapatio troop to start the series against Tomateros de Culiacan with a painful defeat. In the first match on Culiacan territory, the Guindas took the game by a score of 8-2.

The manager of the white and blue team presented an old lineup to the opponent, and the umpires, as a punishment, did not allow him to use Japhet Amador as a designated hitter. The place of "Cachorrito" in the cleanup spot was occupied by the pitcher. The first to suffer from this was starter Terance Marin, who not only lost the game as a pitcher but also did not do well on offense.

The night of terror for Marin at the plate and on the mound began early. In the first inning, Tomateros scored the first run of the night: a hit by Joey Meneses to left field brought Daniel Carbonell home, and the Guindas were already winning the match.

The second inning passed without any changes, but in the third inning, the Culiacan troop would strike again with three more runs. First, a new hit, this time by Bryan LaHair, drove in Joey Meneses.

Then, to close the scoring in the third inning, Ramiro Pena hit a home run with Issmael Salas on base. The blast was enough to put the score at 4-0 before the end of the first third of the game.

Unsatisfied with his home run and now with Octavio Acosta in control for Jalisco, Ramiro Pena would cause damage again with his bat in the fifth inning. This time, he hit a line drive to right field that brought the fifth run home for Tomateros.

Still in the fifth inning and with all the bases occupied, Acosta couldn't get out of trouble and conceded a walk that allowed Joey Meneses to score. This marked the end of the Tapatio reliever's performance on the mound, and left-handed pitcher Victor Gonzalez replaced him.

The pitcher changed, but inheriting the bases loaded was too much of a burden. To greet Gonzalez, Jose Chavez hit a two-run single to center field, bringing in Issmael Salas and Ramiro Pena.

In a forgettable night for Jalisco, the Tapatio reaction came in the sixth inning: a sacrifice fly by Alex Ortiz broke the scoreless streak for the white and blue team with Agustin Murillo scoring. Zazueta also crossed home plate with a single by Michael Choice to left field, but Charros could not recover and fell in the first game of the series against Culiacan.

Result:
Jalisco 2, Culiacan 8
