TOMAS BOY SATISFIED WITH CRUZ AZUL'S VICTORY OVER VERACRUZ
Tomas Boy was pleased with Cruz Azul's victory over Veracruz. This season has not been easy for the team and the coach at their stadium, as they have only achieved their second victory here in the League. However, it could be crucial in the fight for a place in the playoffs.
For that reason, the coach emphasized that at the request of the players, this triumph is dedicated to their fans.
"I would like to say that the players have asked me to dedicate this victory to the fans who have been waiting, sometimes in vain, for us to give them satisfaction at home. I feel the same way," said Boy.
Tomas added that this victory helps them in the race for the playoffs: "We are currently in eighth place and the goal difference is in our favor. But I am pleased that we performed well as visitors and haven't lost since April. However, we need to be more solid at home. My defense is upset, especially because of the way we conceded goals."
Tomas also pointed out that Cruz Azul needs to take that leap in quality in the League, especially in terms of defensive errors.
"We have been hurt by long balls and rebounds, something we haven't solved yet. Then they take the lead and we are left swimming against the current. It creates circulation problems. We equalize and go ahead, but we can't sustain the lead and end up swimming against the current again. We need to take that leap in quality. What happened against America was terrible. No one thought we could come back against America. Getting out of the pressure zone wasn't that simple."
JOFFRE HAS TWO TASKS...
Once again, Joffre Guerron appeared eager to score his goal, even requesting the ball for both penalties, but he wasn't the one to take them.
"I'm sorry, but it was Benitez first, then Silva and Chaco. Guerron did well, he wants to score because he doesn't want to be jeered by the fans, but sometimes he does things that are not for the team. Overall, I'm happy with his work. Finally, Tomas hopes that his players don't get injured during this break like last time.
