Clemson will once again be without this starting defensive lineman this week.
During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney confirmed that starting defensive tackle DeMonte Capehart will not play on Saturday at Pitt.
“Yeah, he’s out,” Swinney said. “He’s out this week for sure.”
Capehart was injured in the Tigers’ game vs. Louisville on Nov. 2 and did not travel with Clemson to last Saturday’s game at Virginia Tech. Swinney called Capehart “week-to-week” during his weekly Zoom call following the Louisville game, and last Tuesday, Swinney said Capehart was “probably going to be out a little while.”
A fifth-year senior, Capehart has become a staple along the Tigers’ defensive front. In eight games this season (six starts), the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder has posted 15 tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups in 198 snaps.
Clemson (7-2, 6-1 ACC) and Pittsburgh (7-2, 3-2) are set to kick off at the Panthers’ Acrisure Stadium at 12 p.m. Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN.
