The president of the Mexican Football Federation broke the silence and spoke about the humiliating elimination of the Mexican team in the Copa America Centenario.
This Friday, Decio de Maria, president of the Mexican Football Federation, spoke at a press conference to announce the details of the match between the Mexican Under-23 team and their Argentine counterparts, which will serve as a farewell for the Olympic team, ahead of their participation in the upcoming Rio 2016 games.
In the company of Rafael Moreno Valle, governor of the state of Puebla, Roberto Ruiz Esparza, director of the Puebla Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, and Raul Gutierrez, coach of the Mexican Under-23 National Team, the Mexican executive spoke about various topics, including the disastrous elimination of the Mexican National Team in the past Copa America Centenario:
"Digesting is something that is very difficult, it was a very difficult moment. It will take a long time to forget it," de Maria declared.
He also emphasized the platform that the Olympic team will have in the upcoming Rio de Janeiro event, especially to clean up the national soccer image: "It is a great opportunity for reconstruction and an important message for what we need for the qualification to Russia," affirmed the president of the FMF.
The match between the Mexican and Argentine teams will be held in the city of Puebla, on July 28, and will have the Cuauhtémoc Stadium as the stage.
