National Championship game beer, bottled water prices have fans in shock: “Criminal”

The Michigan Wolverines and Washington Huskies will play for the national title Monday.

The Washington Huskies and Michigan Wolverines are all set to square off for the National Championship Monday and for most folks that means it’s time to kick the feet up, grab a cold one and watch the action from the comfort of the living room.

And for an even luckier 72,000 or so, it means they are in the building at Houston’s NRG Stadium to see it all go down in person.

Lucky that is, unless they, too, want to have a cold brewski while they watch the guys block and tackle. Because, if beer is their thing, they are going to have to break out the billfold.

And we know that because college football insider Brett McMurphy posted photos of concession stand menus at the big game and … man, it’s kind of steep.

  • Former Penn State star Jesse Luketa might just have the best story from this NFL season
  • Former Penn State QB Sean Clifford makes major announcement and social media is loving it
  • Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. talks Penn State football before taking on Michigan for National Championship

On the low end, if you want some Cheez-Its it will cost you $3.99, and Rold Gold Pretzels will run you $5.95. Want some peanuts? Come off $7.65. Need a bottle of water to wash that down? Well, all you need is $6.95 for that.

There’s something called “BuzzBallz” on the menu for $10.95, and then you get to the beer. Domestic bottled beer is going for $12.65, premium bottled beer $14.95, and premium draft beer is going for $16.55.

There are still places in this country where you can buy a case of beer for $16.55. The National Championship game isn’t that place, obviously.

McMurphy shared a second photo from a different concession stand.

You can see the tweet and the responses to it, here.

Chips are $3.45 there, a Greek Dog is $12.55 and a Specialty Dog is $12.89.

Beer prices are the same.

“Bottled water being $6.95 is a crime,” someone responded.

“$6 for a snack size pretzel is outrageous,” another person responded.

“Criminal,” another person wrote.

“And people wonder why everyone’s (expletive) faced before kick off,” another wrote. “(Expletive) that.”

Another person, though, took the hard-line stance that most of us have.

“That’s it,” another wrote. “I’m staying home.”
