New York loses starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and tight end Darren Waller to injury
The New York Giants lost two of their main offensive weapons on Sunday in Week 8 against the New York Jets.
The Giants announced that quarterback Tyrod Taylor and tight end Darren Waller suffered injuries and were ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Tyrod Taylor, who replaced injured starting quarterback Daniel Jones, left the game with a rib injury and the Giants announced that he was taken to a local hospital for further tests.
The injury to Tyrod Taylor occurred on a second and 6 play at their own 25-yard line in the second quarter after being sacked by Jefferson and Mosley, losing the ball, with 7:39 left to play.
Tommy DeVito, an undrafted rookie, entered the game in place of Tyrod Taylor.
Meanwhile, Darren Waller suffered a hamstring injury, a persistent problem in his career that caused him to miss eight games last season.
Darren Waller, 30 years old, was listed as limited in practice last week and even appeared as questionable on the injury report for the game against the Jets due to a hamstring injury.
The last play involving Darren Waller was in the second quarter, when he caught a pass from Tyrod Taylor and was tackled from behind by Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner.
The Giants acquired Darren Waller last offseason in exchange for a couple of draft picks from the Las Vegas Raiders to be their primary receiver, and he entered Week 8 as the team's leader with 35 receptions for 380 yards.
Without Darren Waller, the Giants were left with Daniel Bellinger as their only healthy available tight end for the rest of the game against the Jets.
