If you are or know drivers of public and private transportation, you should know that the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) reported on the mandatory course on updating transportation and traffic regulations with the aim of broadening capacities to provide services to the population, as well as reducing accidents. In addition, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has extended the approval deadline.

Until when can I take the update course?

The MTC reported that the date will be extended until January 1, 2025 so that drivers can access the Course on Updating Transportation and Land Traffic Regulations.

Also, in the statement disseminated through social networks, it is indicated that, "once the course is completed, the driver will be included in the MTC's National Registry of Qualified Drivers".

Prices of the MTC 2023 update course

The Course on Updating Transportation and Land Traffic Regulations would have a cost between S/100 and S/180, according to the selected driving school's rate.

Where to take the update course?

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), it was indicated that this course must be taken at authorized driving schools nationwide. Consult the official list at the following link.

MTC update course: What requirements are needed?

  • Register at one of the schools authorized by the MTC (link HERE)
  • Have a driver's license with Category A2A or higher.
  • Have a valid ID card or foreigner's card.
  • Have no current suspensions.
  • Bring an updated passport-sized photo.
