Kenyan athlete Evans Chebet emerged victorious in the New York Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2h08:41, ahead of Ethiopian Shura Kitata (2h08:41), in a race where Brazilian Daniel Do Nascimento collapsed while leading.
Chebet was one of the favorites and this year he had also been crowned champion at the Boston Marathon, with a time of 2h06:51.
The Kenyan athlete broke away from the group of favorites halfway through the race in pursuit of the Brazilian who was leading at the time, and he continued running solo until he crossed the finish line.
