The Ministry of Transport and Communications has informed the population of heavy cargo transporters and passenger transport service throughout the country that they can now request a 40% refund of toll payments through a mobile application called "Peaje 40". We share more details in the article.
It should be noted that the MTC indicated that this new digital tool is available for free download on Android mobile phones. It will soon be implemented for iOS.
"The application will allow streamlining the refund process for 40% of tolls paid from September 1st to December 31st of this year, as established by Emergency Decree No. 021-2022, with the aim of contributing to the economic recovery of the country and the reduction of logistics costs for the population," the statement said.
Transporters will be able to request the 40% refund of toll payments starting today. The sector in charge stated that to start the process, the transporter must enter their ID number in the application, which must be registered in the MTC's drivers' list. Then, the screen will display a message warning that the registered information is considered a sworn statement, therefore, any false data will be subject to sanctions.
Immediately, the application's home screen will open, displaying the user's data, company, scope, and type of service. In that menu, the "Register receipts" button will also be visible.
