MLB All-Star Game
Today is the big day for baseball fans as the 92nd edition of the MLB All-Star Game will be celebrated tonight at Dodger Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, where Mexican Alejandro Kirk will be the starting catcher for the American League.
This year a new tie-breaker criterion has been decided in case the score is tied after the ninth inning. There will be no extra innings, instead, a Home Run Derby will take place.
How will the Home Run Derby work in the All-Star Game?
The Midsummer Classic of Major League Baseball will have a new tie-breaker format, which is the home run competition, and we will explain how it will work.
If there is a tie after the ninth inning, the managers of the American and National Leagues must choose three players - one substitute in case of injury - and three coaches to pitch batting practice.
Each player will have three swings, and the team that hits the most home runs after the three rounds will be the winner of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.
The American League will be the first to participate in the Home Run Derby, and the National League will follow. If the score is tied again, each manager will choose one of the three selected players to take three swings.
The All-Star Game has gone into extra innings on 13 occasions, the last time was in 2018 when the American League defeated the National League 8-6 at Nationals Park in Washington in ten innings.
What time is the MLB All-Star Game?
The MLB Midsummer Classic will be played on Tuesday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m. central time, and it will take place at Dodger Stadium.
You can follow this Major League Baseball All-Star Game through Fox Sports.
