According to the specialized website, WhatsApp is adding documentation requirements such as ID, in order to implement its virtual wallet called Novi, from which digital payments and transfers can be made through the app.
So far, the service is currently available in the US and Guatemala, within which it would function with Pax Dollar (USDP), a stablecoin backed by the US dollar.
In addition, according to the website WaBetaInfo, users must necessarily register with an identification document to use Novi for payments, as well as selfies that will help identify the opened accounts.
