Gonzalo Higuain was unable to celebrate his 200th match in Serie A and, on the contrary, suffered a cut on his head.

Gonzalo Higuaín suffered a hard blow in the 1-1 match between Juventus and Lecce for Matchday 9 of the Serie A in Italy, which took place at the Comunale Via del Mare stadium.

Gonzalo Higuaín disputed an aerial ball with the goalkeeper Gabriel and as a result of the action, he suffered a violent impact from the opponent's elbow.

The blow was so forceful that Higuaín collapsed on the field and the goalkeeper himself reacted to the seriousness of the situation. The Argentine forward started bleeding immediately and medical assistance was desperately called for.

Higuaín refused to leave the field and continued playing despite the brutal play. The attacker wanted to score a goal in his milestone match in Serie A. The Pipita, forward of Juventus, played his 200th match.

Higuaín, who will turn 32 on December 10, arrived in Italy in the summer of 2013, when he signed for Napoli at the request of Spanish coach Rafa Benítez in exchange for about 37 million euros.

He played 104 matches with Napoli, becoming the all-time top scorer in a Serie A season (36 goals, in 2016), and then signed for Juventus for the then-record amount of 90 million euros.

He wore the jersey of the Turin team 81 times in Serie A, which, added to the 15 matches played in his brief experience last season in Milan, allowed him to break the barrier of 200 appearances in the Italian championship on Saturday.

The match at the Vía del Mare stadium in Lecce was also Higuaín's 100th match with Juventus in all competitions. With the Turin team, the Pipita won two league titles and two Italian Cups.

In total, the Argentine scored 124 goals in Serie A, two of them in the first nine matchdays of the current season.
