Dragon Ball Super
Dragon Ball Super premiered its chapter 50 of the manga a few days ago with images of the fight against Moro. Despite the revealing details, Toyotaro continues to tease content from volume 10 of his work. It was revealed that the Broly movie is canon and it happened right before the Galactic Patrol arrived on Earth.

When Goku and Vegeta talked to Merus and Jaco about the fight with Broly, Jaco was worried that Broly could get stronger and attack again. Goku mentions that Broly wasn't a bad guy from the beginning. He mentions that he just returned to Planet Vampa and seemed to like the "disgusting" planet. This line of thinking is in line with Goku's actions in the movie, where he tried to calm down a rampaging Broly and tried to resolve everything peacefully. But fans know that it didn't end that way.
According to Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku, during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, she also emphasized this. Nozawa mentioned that "Goku never hates anyone. He doesn't even have the idea of revenge. All he's trying to do is say: Hey, if you behave like that, you're going to cause trouble for people. By disturbing people's lives, don't do that. So I think Goku really believes that Broly is a friend."
Nozawa believed that all Goku wanted apparently was to bring Broly to his side and be his friend, and this reinforces this line of thinking even after Goku and Vegeta experienced everything they did in that battle.
