Arsene Wenger: "I felt like a prisoner" during my time at Arsenal

The French coach Arsene Wenger made some strange and even controversial statements when referring to the long time he spent at the helm of Arsenal's first team. "I felt like a prisoner," he said.

Asked if there is anything he regrets about his career, the 68-year-old strategist surprised by stating that he would have liked to take a different path and not stay in one place for so long.

"Maybe staying in the same club for 22 years was my biggest mistake. I'm someone who likes new things, likes change, but I also like challenges. I was a bit imprisoned by my challenge," Wenger pointed out.

The Frenchman also regretted not dedicating enough time to his family because of his work. "I have neglected my family, many people. I regret sacrificing everything I did because I realize that I have hurt a lot of people around me," he confessed.

The question that couldn't be avoided was whether he already had a clear idea of whether he would return to coaching or dedicate himself to other tasks. "I haven't decided yet what to do. I ask myself that question. Should I keep doing the job I know? Or should I share in a different way all the knowledge I have accumulated about football and people over these years? It's a question I will answer in the next two or three months," he said.
