Diverse institutions and organizations are making the effort for the arrival of esports at the Olympic Games. Although nothing has been confirmed yet for the Paris 2024 event, video games will be present at the 2018 Asian Games.

The organizing committee revealed a few moments ago the list of titles accepted to be part of the sporting event. Their appearance will be possible thanks to the partnership with Alisports, a division of the Chinese company Alibaba.

There are a total of 6 confirmed games for the event, which will be held from August 18 to September 2. League of Legends, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, Clash Royale, and Arena of Valor were the chosen ones.

Despite being mobile games, the last two mentioned titles were accepted due to their great impact and popularity not only in Asia but worldwide. The list was revealed by the Asian Esports Federation.

The institution detailed that their agreement with Alibaba also includes the inclusion of esports in the 2022 Asian Games. The Chinese company is also in talks with the International Olympic Committee for the arrival of video games at the 2024 Olympic Games.

There is still much to be done in this area, as although the International Olympic Committee accepted that esports can be considered sports, it will not admit titles with high levels of violence.

Recently, the German Olympic Committee reaffirmed its position and did not recognize esports as a sport. On the other hand, Intel took a significant step by bringing competitive video game tournaments to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
