Dragon Ball Super: Celebrating Goku's Day
Every 9th of May, the Goku's Day is celebrated, a tribute similar to the one done with Star Wars. Fictional characters are also suitable for celebrations due to their great popularity. Akira Toriyama's work, Dragon Ball Super, gained strength in recent months and that is why Goku is celebrated.
The reason for the choice of the day is very simple, in the Japanese language the character's name is composed of Go, which means 5, and Ku, which represents 9. Toei Animation decided that it should be celebrated in May instead of September.
Fans of Dragon Ball Super celebrated Goku all over the world, including some celebrities and anime voice actors. This is in line with the acceptance of the latest episodes of the anime that concluded the Tournament of Power story.

Another reason dates back to 2015, exactly when Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' was released. It had been 25 years since fans had new anime content. The 'Japan Anniversary' association collaborated with Toei Animation to declare May 9th as Goku's holiday.
