The Quito BMX Club dominated the second round of the National Cup of this sport, held at the Parque del Ocho track in Tulcán, Carchi.

The athletes from Pichincha showed their dominance in experts and rookies, according to the official results provided by the National BMX Commission.

In the Championship category: Doménica Mora, from Pastaza, was the winner in the junior women's series; while in the elite category, Karla Carrera, from Imbabura, took first place. On the other hand, Gonzalo Rengel, from Pichincha, was the winner in the junior men's division and Wilson Goyes was the best in the elite division.

At the beginning of the event, the youngest participants showcased their speed on their balance bikes. Andressa Benalcázar, from Pichincha, stood out in the overall standings after two rounds, competing in the 3-year-old series. Ana Naranjo, from Azuay, was the leader in the 4-year-old category, Monserrath Taco, from Imbabura, in the 6-year-old category, Sthefano Chariguamán, from Pastaza, in the 2-year-old category, Emiliano Silva, from Pichincha, in the 3-year-old category, Mathias Carreño, from Napo, in the 4-year-old category, and Jassiel Almeida, from Pastaza, in the 5-year-old category.

The winning team featured José María Suárez, Matías Zanders, Alejandro, and Fernando Sandoval in the rookie division, while Federico Neuman, Emilio Elizalde, Arturo Andrade, and Daniel Jarrín excelled in the expert division.

Around 500 riders from Colombia and Ecuador participated in the competition, which was held with the support of the National Commission and the Carchi BMX Commission. The latter worked on the track to ensure the show and the performance of the cyclists.

A new international competition, C1, and the third round of the National Cup will take place in Ambato on April 21 and 22.

In addition, a technical check-up will be carried out in Quito (at the UIDE track) in the 16-year-old, junior, and elite categories, with a view to the South American Games in Cochabamba 2018.

The National BMX Commission highlighted that the Azuayan cyclist Alfredo Campo won the title at the USA BMX Carolina Nationals, held at the supercross track in Rock Hill (South Carolina, United States), where he competed against the best in the BMX world. (D)
