Triumph of Halcones de Puebla in the State Basketball Championship
With a 60-point victory over the Tigres Blancos from Instituto Mexicano Madero, Halcones de Puebla, led by head coach Bernardo Córdova, were crowned champions in the men's basketball category for the 2003-2004 age group, securing the right to represent the state of Puebla in the regional phase of the National Olympics.
Despite facing adversity, the Halcones managed to impose themselves at the home court of the Tigres Blancos. They took control of the game from the first half, leading 36-21, which proved to be definitive. The Halcones never relinquished their advantage despite the opponents' efforts.
Ramsés Córdova's outstanding performance was crucial in securing the victory for the Halcones. He contributed 24 points, making a difference in the final score of 60-50. Javier García, Eder Tapia, and Fernando Munguía also played a fundamental role.
According to the official regulations, the championship title grants the winning team the right to form the core of the Puebla Selection, which will compete for a spot in the next round of the National Olympics. The coaching staff, led by Bernardo Córdova and Manuel Orellana, will have to carry out a new selection process.
Twenty-five players will be summoned in the near future, as per the official call, in order to evaluate their eligibility for the project aimed at achieving a prompt qualification. The challenge will be to fight for a medal in the national competition in the coming weeks.
It is worth mentioning that the Halconcitas achieved third place in the 2001-2002 division of the championship. This is a positive outcome that allows the organization to work with a solid foundation for future competitions.
