Since the Los Angeles Dodgers NLDS loss to the San Diego Padres in 2022 is too fresh in every Dodger fan’s mind, many fans are freaking out after Saturday night’s debacle against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
If the NLDS was only one game, the Dodgers would be finished. It isn’t only one game. It is the best of the five. The Dodgers must win three out of the four remaining games to advance to the NLCS. They have done this many times during the 2023 regular season. Many teams have lost the first game of a particular postseason series and come back to win the series.
Los Angeles Lakers legend and member of the Dodgers’ ownership group, Magic Johnson, reminded Dodger fans about one of the Lakers’ debacles during their 1985 world championship run.
“I want to remind my Dodgers I’ve been there. In 1985 my Showtime Lakers got blown out by the Celtics in Game 1 famously known as the Memorial Day massacre. They beat us by 34 points but we still came back and won the Series!”

Dodger fans must forget both the 2022 NLDS against the Padres (the Dodgers won the first game) and Saturday’s blowout loss. The 2023 Dodgers can rebound from it. On Monday, the Dodgers have their new ace Bobby Miller going, and his pitching style is completely different from Clayton Kershaw’s. If the offense doesn’t have to overcome a six-run deficit before the seats are warm, they will produce.
