The LUX Fight League event in Mexico City last Saturday featured a fight between veteran Jorge López and Horacio Gutiérrez, who was removed from the card one day before the event due to a medical condition. In his place, Efraín Escudero entered, and the fight took place at a catchweight:
"I'm in condition because I'm always training and that's why I decided to take the fight, and I want to thank my opponent for accepting it. We had fun and gave an incredible round," commented Escudero after his appearance in the cage.
With just over a minute left in the first round, Escudero scored a takedown and took the superior position, from where he landed elbows. López turned his back, and 'Made in Mexico' locked in a rear-naked choke that ended the fight with one second remaining on the clock.
"We knew it was going to happen, this fight wasn't going to go to the judges. I have been training very hard, and when I'm motivated, I'm a different fighter," concluded Escudero, who is thankful for not having suffered any injuries as he has another commitment next weekend in Dubai, with the ACB promotion.
