Women's Alpine Ski Slalom Postponed
The women's alpine ski slalom event at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, scheduled for Wednesday at the YongPyong ski resort in South Korea, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions. The race will now take place on Friday, as announced by the race officials.
After a couple of delays caused by strong winds, it became impossible to hold the competition. Therefore, it was rescheduled to Friday.
This decision means that the slalom event will take place on the same day as the men's Super-G event in Jeongseon, adding to the challenges faced by the winter sports athletes in these Games. The alpine skiing events have been heavily affected by multiple delays and postponements.
So far, only the men's combined event (a downhill race and a slalom) has been successfully completed. Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher, who holds the record for the most overall wins in the World Cup with six consecutive titles, won the Olympic gold medal in this event.
On Tuesday, Hirscher, 28, also secured his victory in the combined event, placing first ahead of French skiers Alexis Pinturault and Victor Muffat-Jeandet. He will now compete for gold in the slalom and giant slalom events.
