Ireen Wust from the Netherlands Wins Gold at Pyeongchang Winter Games
Dutch skater Ireen Wust has further cemented her legacy by winning the gold medal in the 1500-meter race at the Pyeongchang Winter Games. With this victory, she becomes the first speed skater to win ten Olympic medals.

The victory by the Dutch icon 'Oranje' means that the Netherlands has so far claimed all three gold medals in the three events held in the South Korean city.
Another Gold for Wust
Wust, who is competing in what will likely be her final Games, won her fifth Olympic gold medal by beating Japan's Miho Takagi by 0.20 seconds.
Japanese Skater Denies Dutch Clean Sweep
Takagi prevented the Dutch skaters from achieving another podium sweep, like they did in the 3000-meter event on Saturday, by finishing ahead of Marrit Leenstra (bronze) and Lotte van Beek, who came in fourth.
Wust's Love for the 1500-Meter Race
At the age of 31, Wust adores the 1500-meter race, where she won bronze in 2006, gold in 2010, and silver in 2014. Once victory was assured, the Dutch skater shouted with excitement and was embraced by her supporters.
"The tension was incredibly high. I put a lot of pressure on myself. This is unbelievable," said Wust. "The circle is complete," she added, referring to her first gold medal 12 years ago in the 3000-meter event in Turin.
